As part of the visit to the Azores by Prof. James R. Kahn, Professor Emeritus of Economics and Environmental Studies at Washington and Lee University (USA), Adjunct Professor at the Federal University of Amazonas (Brazil), former President of the US Society for Ecological Economics, and Editor of the scientific journal Ecological Economics, we are pleased to invite you to the public lecture:

The lecture, which will be delivered in Portuguese, will explore the role of fisheries in the economy, the current challenges facing the sector, and perspectives for a more sustainable future. It will address topics including natural resource economics, the management and economic value of fisheries, conservation, and the development of communities that depend on these resources.

Prof. James R. Kahn has extensive research experience in these fields, having conducted research throughout his career on fisheries, tourism, local communities and sustainable development in the Brazilian Amazon. His work explores the relationships between natural resource use, conservation, and the development of communities that depend on these resources.

The event is open to the academic community and the general public.
