About Marina Navarro

I am half Spanish, half German and grew up in Madrid, far away from the sea. I then moved to Berlin to study Ecology and Environmental Planning, which I complemented by an internship in the Spanish Institute of Oceanography. There, as a physical and biogeochemical oceanographer apprentice, I did some programming to estimate phytoplankton primary production and had the opportunity to participate in various cruises to collect data in the Cantabrian Sea. I continued this project as a bachelor thesis when I returned to Berlin to finish my degree. Some months later, I joined the Azores Deep Sea Research Group, where I’m continuing my journey as a marine scientist.
