About Andreia Sousa

Andreia holds a PhD from the Doctoral Program in Climate Change and Sustainable Development Policies on ecology and adaptation to climate change in the marine environment at the University of Lisbon. She worked on the description and seasonal detection of two potential acoustic signals from whales in the Indian Ocean at the University of St. Andrews. In the area of adaptation to climate change, she worked on the European project (DownScaling CLImate ImPACTs and decarbonisation pathways in EU islands, and improving socio-economic and non-market assessment of Climate Change for Europe, to 2050 and beyond). Her research focused on the development of methodologies for assessing the impacts of climate change on cetacean species with the aim of supporting the management and conservation of natural resources in the Macaronesia region. Andreia develops practice based art and science projects with local communities for ocean conservation.
