I'm currently a PhD candidate (FCT fellow) at the University of the Azores and the National Institute of Aquatic Resources, Technical University of Denmark. I have been working for 10 years on the analysis of fisheries data and the population dynamics of commercial species in different ecosystems, such as the Azores, Northeast Atlantic, Southern Africa, and Amazonia, which provide stock assessment in these regions. I'm also a Portugal representative member and stock coordinator (e.g., Blackspot seabream, Alfonsinos, Thronback ray, and Kitefin shark) in working groups of the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES), such as the Working Group on the Biology and Assessment of Deep-Sea Fisheries Resources (WGDEEP) and the Working Group on Elasmobranch Fishes (WGEF). Recently, I became a member of the ICES WKLIFE group, helping to develop quantitative methodologies based on life-history traits and exploitation characteristics for data-limited stocks.
