About Eva Giacomello

I am a biologist interested in fish ecology and biology, seamount management and conservation, marine ecosystem services and ocean literacy. In 2005 I obtained my PhD in Evolutionary Biology from the University of Padua in Italy, working on several aspects of fish reproduction, from the evolutionary component, such as sexual selection, to the ecological component, such as distribution and reproduction. I then moved to the University of the Azores in Portugal, widening my interest to issues more related to deep-sea resource management and conservation. I am currently working on the ecology of demersal and deep-sea fishes, and responses of fish communities to ecological pressures, with special emphasis on the Condor seamount marine protected area.
