Esta segunda-feira, o Polo da Universidade dos Açores, na Horta, recebeu os novos estudantes deste ciclo de estudos, que inicia agora mais um ano de formação dedicada ao conhecimento integrado do Oceano. Este ano, 17 novos estudantes, maioritariamente de origem estrangeira, juntam-se ao mestrado, trazendo diferentes experiências, perspetivas e conhecimentos para uma formação com uma forte dimensão internacional.

O Mestrado em Estudos Integrados do Oceano tem como objetivo aprofundar o conhecimento científico sobre o meio marinho e desenvolver competências para integrar diferentes áreas das ciências do mar, desenvolver investigação original, trabalhar em contextos multidisciplinares e comunicar ciência a diferentes públicos. Este mestrado procura ainda aproximar a investigação do mundo empresarial e promover a capacidade de responder aos novos desafios científicos, tecnológicos e sociais relacionados com o Oceano.

This Monday, the University of the Azores campus in Horta welcomed the new students joining this programme, marking the beginning of another year of training focused on the integrated study of the Ocean.

This year, 17 new students, most of them international, have joined the Master’s programme, bringing diverse experiences, perspectives and knowledge to a programme with a strong international dimension.

The Master’s in Integrated Ocean Studies aims to deepen scientific knowledge of the marine environment and develop the skills needed to integrate different areas of marine science, conduct original research, work in multidisciplinary contexts and communicate science to different audiences. The programme also seeks to strengthen connections between research and the business sector and to equip students to respond to the scientific, technological and societal challenges facing the Ocean.
