Week 2 is on... and we're diving straight into action!

This week kicked off with hands-on activities that brought students closer to the science behind marine robotics. Throughout the morning, participants explored marine biology and aquaculture laboratories, discovered cutting-edge coral research, and gained valuable insights into fisheries science at IICMar–Okeanos (DOP-mar).
They also learned about the latest techniques in shark and ray electronic tagging (biologging), as well as how scientists study and monitor cetaceans, discovering how technology is transforming marine research and conservation.
In the afternoon, the adventure continued as students moved into the practical phase of the programme, working together on the implementation and testing of their ROVs, putting theory into practice as they prepared for upcoming field operations.

PT A segunda semana já começou... e mergulhámos diretamente na ação!

Esta semana arrancou com um conjunto de atividades práticas que aproximaram os estudantes da ciência por detrás da robótica marinha. Durante a manhã, os alunos visitaram os laboratórios de Biologia Marinha, Aquacultura, CoralLab e Pescas do IICMar–OKEANOS, ficando a conhecer de perto a investigação desenvolvida nestas áreas.

Houve ainda espaço para explorar as mais recentes técnicas de marcação eletrónica de tubarões e raias (biologging), bem como os métodos utilizados para estudar e monitorizar cetáceos, descobrindo como a tecnologia está a transformar a investigação e a conservação marinha.

Durante a tarde, a aventura continuou com o início da implementação e dos testes dos ROVs, onde os estudantes começaram a pôr em prática os conhecimentos adquiridos, dando mais um passo na preparação para as próximas operações de campo.
