Na semana passada tivemos o prazer de receber as crianças que participaram nas Nautiférias 2026, organizadas pelo Clube Naval da Horta.

Ao longo das atividades, explorámos temas como o mar profundo, a oceanografia e a biodiversidade marinha, através de puzzles, jogos, desafios criativos, leituras de histórias e experiências práticas. As crianças puderam ainda descobrir como são marcados tubarões para investigação, perceber como comunicam os cetáceos e aprender mais sobre os habitats das diferentes espécies que vivem no nosso oceano.

Partilhar conhecimento com as novas gerações é uma das partes mais gratificantes do nosso trabalho. Ver a curiosidade, o entusiasmo e a vontade de aprender de cada participante reforça a importância de despertar, desde cedo, o interesse pela ciência marinha.

Esta iniciativa é uma oportunidade única para aproximar os mais novos da ciência e do oceano, dando-lhes a conhecer, de forma divertida e interativa, o trabalho desenvolvido pelos nossos investigadores.

ENG Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming the children participating in Nautiférias 2026, organized by Clube Naval da Horta.

Throughout the activities, we explored topics such as the deep sea, oceanography, and marine biodiversity through puzzles, games, creative challenges, storytelling, and hands-on activities. The children also learned how sharks are tagged for research, discovered how cetaceans communicate, and explored the habitats of the incredible species that inhabit our ocean.

Sharing knowledge with younger generations is one of the most rewarding parts of our work. Seeing their curiosity, enthusiasm, and eagerness to learn reminds us how important it is to inspire an interest in marine science from an early age.

This initiative is a wonderful opportunity to bring children closer to science and the ocean while giving them a fun and interactive insight into the work carried out by our researchers.
