Ana Colaço participated in the Vulnerable Marine Ecosystems Advice Drafting Group (ADGVME) meeting, held at the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) headquarters in Copenhagen.

The Advice Drafting Group on Vulnerable Marine Ecosystems (ADGVME) is an ICES expert group responsible for drafting scientific advice on Vulnerable Marine Ecosystems (VMEs). Its primary role is to prepare, review, and finalize the technical reports and scientific advice issued by the ICES Advisory Committee (ACOM) concerning the identification, distribution, protection, and management of VMEs, including deep-sea coral reefs, sponge grounds, and other sensitive marine habitats that may be impacted by fishing activities.

The advice produced by the ADGVME provides the scientific basis for the development of conservation and management measures, supporting evidence-based decision-making by the European Union and other international organizations responsible for sustainable fisheries management and the protection of the marine environment

PT A nossa colega Ana Colaço esteve em Copenhaga na Vulnerable Marine Ecosystems Advice Drafting Group (ADGVME) na sede do ICES . O ADGVME (Advice Drafting Group on Vulnerable Marine Ecosystems) é um grupo de trabalho do ICES (Conselho Internacional para a Exploração do Mar) responsável pela elaboração de pareceres científicos sobre Ecossistemas Marinhos Vulneráveis (VMEs – Vulnerable Marine Ecosystems).

A sua principal função consiste em preparar, rever e finalizar os relatórios técnicos e os pareceres científicos do Comité Consultivo do ICES (ACOM) relativos à identificação, localização, proteção e gestão de ecossistemas marinhos vulneráveis, como os recifes de corais de águas profundas, os jardins de esponjas e outros habitats sensíveis suscetíveis de serem afetados pelas atividades de pesca.

Os pareceres produzidos por este grupo fornecem a base científica para a definição de medidas de gestão e conservação destes ecossistemas, apoiando a tomada de decisões por parte da União Europeia e de outras organizações internacionais responsáveis pela gestão sustentável das pescas e pela proteção do meio marinho.
