The 2026 edition of the Marine Robotics Summer School kicked off yesterday, as part of the collaboration between MIT Portugal Program and the institute of Marine Sciences OKEANOS, bringing together students from different institutions in a highly multidisciplinary learning environment.

During the opening session, attended by the President of OKEANOS, Gui Menezes, the students were welcomed and introduced to the programme, the activities planned for the coming days, and the facilities where they will carry out practical and research work.

Over the next two weeks, participants will deepen their knowledge in marine robotics, marine biology, and oceanography, combining theoretical and hands-on activities with work on autonomous platforms such as Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), Autonomous Surface Vehicles (ASVs), and Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs).

PT Arrancou ontem a edição de 2026 da Marine Robotics Summer School, uma iniciativa promovida no âmbito da colaboração entre o MIT Portugal e o Instituto de Investigação em Ciências do Mar - OKEANOS, que volta a reunir estudantes de diferentes instituições num ambiente de aprendizagem intensiva e multidisciplinar.

Na sessão de abertura, que contou com a participação do presidente do OKEANOS, Gui Menezes, os estudantes foram recebidos e tiveram a oportunidade de conhecer o programa da edição, as atividades previstas e as instalações onde irão desenvolver trabalho prático e de investigação ao longo dos próximos dias.

Ao longo das próximas duas semanas, os participantes irão aprofundar conhecimentos nas áreas da robótica marinha, biologia marinha e oceanografia, combinando componentes teóricas e práticas com o trabalho em veículos autónomos, como AUVs, ASVs e ROVs.
