No passado dia 29 de junho, o Instituto de Investigação em Ciências do Mar – OKEANOS, da Universidade dos Açores, recebeu a visita institucional do Cônsul-Geral Honorário do Reino de Tonga em Portugal, Anthony Bailey.

A comitiva foi recebida pelo Diretor do Instituto OKEANOS, Gui Menezes, e pelo Pró-Reitor da Universidade dos Açores, João Gonçalves. Durante a visita, foi apresentada a missão do Instituto, as suas principais áreas de investigação, as instalações e o percurso desenvolvido ao longo dos anos na promoção do conhecimento científico e na conservação dos ecossistemas marinhos dos Açores.

A visita constituiu uma oportunidade para dar a conhecer o trabalho desenvolvido pelo OKEANOS na investigação em ciências do mar e para reforçar a importância da cooperação internacional na promoção da ciência, da inovação e da gestão sustentável do oceano.

O Instituto OKEANOS agradece a visita do Cônsul-Geral Honorário do Reino de Tonga em Portugal.

ENG On June 29th, the Institute of Marine Sciences - OKEANOS at the University of the Azores welcomed Anthony Bailey, Honorary Consul-General of the Kingdom of Tonga in Portugal, for an institutional visit.

The delegation was received by Gui Menezes, Director of the OKEANOS Institute, and João Gonçalves, Pro-Rector of the University of the Azores. The visit provided an opportunity to showcase OKEANOS' work in marine science research while highlighting the importance of international cooperation in promoting science, innovation, and the sustainable management of the ocean.

The OKEANOS Institute extends its sincere appreciation to the Honorary Consul-General of the Kingdom of Tonga in Portugal for his visit and looks forward to the development of future international cooperation initiatives arising from this meeting.
