From 3 to 8 May, Vienna (Austria) hosted the European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2026 (EGU26), one of the largest international geosciences conferences.
Two PhD students from the Oceanography team represented OKEANOS:
🎓 Tiago Serpa (FCT grant holder) presented the poster “A Northern Meddy at the Mid-Atlantic Ridge” in the session Ocean Sciences – Eddies, waves and instabilities.
🎓 Joana Domingues (AIR Centre grant holder) presented the poster “Interpreting volcanic ocean colour anomalies in a variable ocean” in the session Natural Hazards – Application of remote sensing, Earth-observation data and EGMS products in geohazard and risk studies.
Their participation at EGU26 highlights the growing role of remote sensing in oceanographic research at OKEANOS and DOP/FCT – University of the Azores.
PT De 3 a 8 de Maio decorreu em Viena (Áustria) a European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2026 (EGU26). Dois alunos de doutoramento da equipa de Oceanografia participaram neste evento. Tiago Serpa, bolseiro FCT, apresentou no dia 7 o poster “A Northern Meddy at the Mid-Atlantic Ridge”, integrado na sessão “Ocean Sciences - Eddies, waves and instabilities”. Joana Domingues (bolseira Air Centre) apresentou no dia 08 o poster intitulado “Interpreting volcanic ocean colour anomalies in a variable ocean”, integrado na sessão “Natural Hazards – Application of remote sensing, Earth-observation data and EGMS products in geohazard and risk studies”. Esta participação reforça a integração da área de Deteção Remota na investigação oceanográfica desenvolvida no OKEANOS e DOP/FCT, Universidade dos Açores.
